Memorial Day

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard among the guns below.

We are the dead.  Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved, and were loved, and now we lie

In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

In Flanders fields.

 ~by John McCrae

If you feel so led you may want to go here for a list of U.S. casualities and pray for the families of these brave souls who gave all.

Thanks for stopping by to say happy birthday! I suppose that you are two years and two days older than I-- although according to your profile, you actually turn three years old next month. Rather precocious, I would say. :-)

Hmm. So I have looked thru the first page of your blog here and think that if you would write, I would come back and read. So let me know next time you decide to post. Surely you can think of *something* to write about. You could write about what your kids are doing for "school", or you could always post more poetry. I enjoyed reading this-- I had actually never read the whole poem before.

But I do understand that whole thing of liking to read & comment on others' blogs more than writing on your own. I post a fair amount, but I spend *more* time reading & commenting. Ever read CarpeBanana? She is one of my HSB friends and a classical hs'er. I bet you'd like her blog. You could also go read stephanie10, who has even more kids than you do. :-)

Thanks again for stopping. Come again!
